Card Info

Blessed Void Shock
Affinity Dependency: Frost
Autocast: Every 8 seconds, tower fires off a backwards chargeable shot that deals 330 / 360 / 375 / 410 damage to enemies in a 8m radius around its target, up to 500 / 540 / 560 / 615 in total. The less void power has been accumulated the faster the tower will be able to shoot. If less than 1000 own void power is left it will already shoot 25% faster gaining even more speed the more void power is used up. Knocks back small and medium units.

When certain thresholds are met, Time Vortex can shoot once every 8 / 6 / 4 / 2 / 1 seconds, which translates to a 0% / 25% / 50% / 75% / 88% increase in speed. Blessed Void Shock's thresholds are met when below 1000 / 600 / 250 / 100 void power. This results in an effective DP20 value of 1710/2235/3260/4270 depending on the current void power threshold.

This affinity belongs to the strongest towers in the game due to the way the game is played. In almost every situation the players goal is to have as little void power as possible so you have more raw power available to spend elsewhere, which directly plays into this towers strengths. As such the frost affinity is the to go choice for players.

Tainted Void Shock
Affinity Dependency: Shadow
Autocast: Every 8 seconds, tower fires off a chargeable shot that deals 330 / 360 / 375 / 410 damage to enemies in a 8m radius around its target, up to 500 / 540 / 560 / 615 in total. The more void power has been accumulated the faster the tower will be able to shoot. If at least 100 own void power has been stored it will already shoot 25% faster gaining even more speed the more void power is available. Knocks back small and medium units.

When certain thresholds are met, Time Vortex can shoot once every 8 / 6 / 4 / 2 / 1 seconds, which translates to a 0% / 25% / 50% / 75% / 88% increase in speed. Tainted Void Shock's thresholds are met when above 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 void power. This results in an effective DP20 value of 1710/2235/3260/4270 depending on the current void power threshold.

This affinity is barely used. It excels in situations where you don't have access to void return mechanics, which basically do not exist in normal play. In order to utilize it effectively you have to keep spending power without resorting void return mechanics. Keeping void power high to play into Time Vortex strengths becomes even harder, as void power is returned faster the more you have available. It becomes a constant juggle and the power you invest to keep void power high to make it stronger can be spent in other cards much more effectively.

Notes & Strategies

When using the shadow affinity, make sure to spend your power as soon as you have it available to keep your void power pool high for Time Vortex to shoot as fast as it can. Altar of Nihil is a good way to keep void power high and save card charges. Keep in mind that void power also does not increase during its effect and any power spent that would go into the void is lost forever.

When using the frost affinity, make sure to keep your void power as low as possible, letting Time Vortex shoot as fast as it can. Placing Furnace of Flesh next to Time Vortex to consume units the moment they are killed is one effective way, another one is using it with Cultist Master.

When either is played to its fullest strengths, it can easily hold its own even against larger enemy forces. Its high attack frequency causes small and medium units to be stuck in constant knockbacks. Its high damage per shot also kills large or multiple units quickly and can take quite a beating with its high hitpoints.

The increases in shooting frequency depending on void power is not a steady change. Rather at certain thresholds, Time Vortex gains a definite percentage increase.

It should be noted however that in reality the tower shoots at most once every 2 seconds due to animations and how the game calculates time for attacks.

Campaign PvE

On missions, where players have to hold certain perimeters such as The Treasure Fleet, Nightmare Shard or Bad Harvest against constantly respawning enemies, Time Vortex is one of the top tier choices, due to its low requirements, damage and durabilty. There are numerous scenarios, where such a strong tower may prove helpful early on, until stronger towers can replace it against increasingly more powerful enemies.

Using the Frost affinity, placing a Furnace of Flesh near it makes this card practically a place and forget card as it can easily hold spots on its own.
