Arguably the most solid of the early game archers. The Master Archers are very capable, but generic.

Crossbow Attack
Card Icon Autocast Autocast: Every 2 seconds, unit fires bolts at enemies that deal 6.5 / 7.5 / 8.5 / 9.5 damage.

Notes & Strategies

Master Archers do not possess the same damage output as other archers of their likeness do, though indeed surpass the Snapjaws Card Icon Snapjaws at least. Nevertheless, they can easily compete thanks to their superior hit points.

Master Archers benefit from a Small counter bonus, amplifying their ATK to 450 / 540 / 630 / 720 against Small creatures. Making them more prominent at effectively slaying opponents due to the high frequency of Small units in early game combat.Master Archers, like most cheap creatures; are most powerful when spammed. In this case it is especially true, as many of these archers quickly ramp up damage against opposing foes in the early game. Thanks to their higher hit points, they are capable of tanking far greater damage as opposed to their rivals; and can survive where others would perish.

Master Archers are frequently paired with other cards that benefit their strengths, such as the Northguards Card Icon Northguards and the Frost Mage Card Icon Frost Mage. However they also combo well with the Imperials Card Icon Imperials, which fulfill the Master Archers lack of a Medium counter bonus.

Campaign PvE

Master Archers are an incredibly basic, yet effective card for use in Standard Difficulty PvE maps. They are capable of easily pulling players through their early areas and in large numbers can secure effective results.

They are often paired with the Northguards Card Icon Northguards for a cheap and reliable early game force, one that can be supplemented with Imperials Card Icon Imperials to fill the counter gap.

Random PvE

Master Archers are still just as effective in rPvE as they are in PvE, however due to the nature of rPvE there can often be an abundance of Medium or even Large creatures which pose a grave threat to the Master Archers. This is often rectified with their combo partners.

A frequent high level frost T1 in rPvE is to run Frost Mage Card Icon Frost Mage with Master Archers, as both serve each other incredibly well, even despite lacking a Medium counter bonus; the knockback of the mages keeps them safe from most threats and secures ground quickly. This is especially true if combined with Ice Barrier Card Icon Ice Barrier and Home Soil Card Icon Home Soil.

PvP

Master Archers are a solid choice for PvP combat, as they are Archers; whom can attack at range and render many foes less hazardous. But their effectiveness depends on what they are fighting.

Strengths

- Completely dominate in Archer battles

Master Archers, being the only squad archer with an S counter in T1, has an advantage most superior when facing the other archers.

Fire and Shadow both have M counter archers, meaning Master Archers quickly dominate over them.

- Hitpoints are unusually high for a T1 Archer

Master Archers have a notably high base hitpoints compared to other archers. Only the Windweavers Card Icon Windweavers and Snapjaws Card Icon Snapjaws can upgrade their hitpoints, but the Master Archers naturally possess high hitpoints, granting them unique survivability from their kin.

- Costs 50 Power

Master Archers are dirt-cheap. They only cost 50 power, which easily amounts to several of them at the start of a match. They can be easily reinforced as well, and offer a long-term power advantage.

- Very Strong against Shadow T1

Against Shadow, they are quite effective, as Shadow can only properly counter with Dreadcharger Card Icon Dreadcharger or Witchclaws Card Icon Witchclaws. Additionally, with proper micro; one can render Nasty Surprise Card Icon Nasty Surprise much less dangerous.

Master Archers have a supreme advantage against Nox Trooper Card Icon Nox Trooper, who cannot keep up in damage. As well as being highly effective against Small creature spam, such as Wrathblades Card Icon Wrathblades.

- Advantaged in 2v2 matches

In situations where they are not focused as readily, Master Archers are quite powerful. In 2v2, these situations occur often as there are often multiple skylords in combat.

Weaknesses

- Shutdown by Hurricane

Hurricane Card Icon Hurricane has the power to completely shut down Master Archers, rendering them sitting ducks on the field. Wintertide Card Icon Wintertide can counteract this spell to an extent however.

- Countered by Frost Mage

Frost Mage Card Icon Frost Mage is a direct counter to Master Archers, whos damage and knockback will shred through their hitpoints quickly. Wintertide Card Icon Wintertide can counteract this knockback to an extent however.

- Weak against Fire

Fire in general has an advantage against frost due to their high mobility. But this is highly accentuated in the Master Archers, who can be easily felled via the Scavenger Card Icon Scavenger.
