Legend
| Burning wood came down on me. The walls were screeching and would not hold for long, but that was not the reason I left my hideout. If I was going to die in flames, so be it. I just did not want to die hiding. Outside, the air did nothing to comfort my withered lungs. I stumbled away from my burning house, past heaps of smoldering coal that were once a town. Ash covered my skin in white, another proof that the air had changed its allegiance and was now serving the beast from above. Circles of smoke hung in the sky. The Fire Dragon was drawing its rings, as if hunting its own tail. I fought for its attention, but all my screams were muzzled by coughs. Still, it could not have missed this white boy. Maybe it left me be so one could tell the story. |
