Skylords Reborn aims to stay as close as possible to the spirit of the original BattleForge while building on it. To do this it is paramount to understand the intent behind the game's various systems and designs. Analyzing and identifying patterns helps to infer standards to not only deal with issues that the untimely closure left unaddressed but also provide guidelines for future content. The release of these official manifestos serves to demonstrate the revival project's passionate commitment to studying the game's principles and provides transparent insight.

Skylords Reborn PvE Design Philosophy[]

Released on May 21, 2021[1] the very first official document takes a look at the future of the game's design. Following lots of uncertainty when discussing and giving feedback about the state of the game, this 12-page document goes into extensive depth to clarify the vision going forward.

It provides a detailed thought process behind how the game will receive the necessary balancing adjustments, while stressing that, for the time being, the highest priority is to give underwhelming and barely used cards and mechanics the help they need to be viable choices.

Pure Frost Deep Dive[]

Released July 17, 2021[2] this is the first of a series of deep dives that sheds light on the first-class factions outlined in the first document. Here, the pure Frost faction is getting explored in detail, including upcoming changes and a tease of the very first new card.

Frost was the first major faction to receive this sort of attention as large scale balancing passes and redesigns were underway to help it fully realize its fantasy. Therefore the weaknesses and goals for primarily pure Frost decks are analyzed in this 9-page document.

Card Rarities for Units and Spells[]

Released on August 14, 2021[3] this 11-page document addresses the burning question which rarity upcoming, newly released cards should have.

To do this it analyzes how card rarity is distributed, how it correlates with complexity and introduces a complexity budget system for units as well as general guidelines for spells. Both of which are derived from the original Twilight Edition, which the game initially launched with under EA, and will help provide necessary standards to decide which rarity upcoming cards should have going forward. A document specifically talking about rarity and complexity for buildings will follow at a later date.

Bandits Deep Dive[]

Released on December 03, 2021[4] 10 pages of this document are dedicated to analyzing the first-class faction Bandits, hybrid between Fire and Shadow, in order to go into more detail about upcoming adjustments, why they are necessary and new cards that are meant to expand on the factions playstyles.

3 additional pages are then used to give a look behind the scenes on how one of the upcoming new Bandits cards, Bandits Minefield, came to be and what role in the game it should serve.
